Thank you for interest in becoming a member of the HVFC Shift Program!
The Volunteer Shift Program is a stipend based, duty crew program, where certified firefighters can sign up for shifts that work for their schedule providing HVFC consistent staff in the firehouse to respond to emergencies as needed.
Our goal is to schedule Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm with 3 of these 10-hour shifts and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings 5p-11p. We will work with you for flexible scheduling by day and/or week. For your time, you will be given $125 for a 10hr shift, paid in twice a month increments for the shifts served. The evening shifts are $62.
We are actively recruiting firefighters with the following qualifications from the surrounding area:
- National Cert (ProBoard) Firefighter 1
- VRA/O or BVR
- Hazardous Materials Operations
- CPR/First Aid for First Responder
Preferred:
- National Cert Firefighter 2
- Vehicle Rescue Technician
- Engine and Truck Company Operations
- WRER(Water Rescue)
For FF/Apparatus Operator in addition:
- EVOC
- Pump 1
- Driver in home department
